“It is a radical act and a form of social justice for people from historically marginalized communities to be paid for the full value of their labor. Modeling this in businesses is one necessary step toward liberation and our individual and collective sustainability and it deserves to be honored. “ — © Transform Belonging founder Lauren Lofton

Our savings and investments are precious as is our time. We don’t ask you to meet with Transform Belonging unless you know we would be a financial fit first!

Financial Transparency

Transform Belonging respects and values your time as well as our own. Many consultancies and coaches do not provide pricing upfront. There is concern that clients will not know the value of services, will experience “sticker shock,” or move on to a practitioner who doesn’t charge a rate that matches their expertise, or who doesn’t have a need to make a living to thriving wage. Transform Belonging doesn’t find it helpful for anyone to “hide the money ball.”

All pricing is in alignment with market rate value for the services and level of expertise provided. We hope to meet with you to explore your needs and find a service that works for you. Read more about the value and cost of services in our Press publications (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging and Racial Justice Toolkit for Legal Aid). All potential clients are encouraged to find services that are values aligned and meet their financial needs - we hope that’s with us!

General Pricing Guidance

Pricing is contingent upon the specific needs of an individual, or company/organization. Creating real change requires a time commitment and multiple sessions. Transform Belonging offers limited services to businesses for one-time training/facilitation sessions to provide an educational baseline, team assessment, or leadership assessment. Pricing is contingent upon the amount of time (half-day or full-day), number of participants and there is a minimum for in-person services (vs. online). Pricing for long-term support of a strategic plan reflects the cost of at least quarterly sessions with leadership and or staff. If you are interested in services please contact Transform Belonging for a 30-minute (free) fit assessment and pricing conversation (schedule here).

Budgetary Transparency

Please be prepared to share your budget and details regarding your specific needs when you submit your inquiry and during the assessment. Transform Belonging has multiple educational modules and a variety of materials available such that it is possible for pricing to reflect preparation time. Pricing is assessed on a case-by-case basis and clients are provided multiple options to best fit their budgetary and educational needs/support requested. Pricing is not inclusive of any additional preparation time for the creation of customized materials at client request.

Pricing “for-profit” Companies/Foundations & Businesses versus “non-profit” Organizations

Pricing for small businesses differs from pricing for medium to large size companies corporations and foundations. Pricing for non-profits and universities with a budget of under half a million dollars a year differs from those with up to $1 million dollars per year and those with an operating budget of more than $1 million dollars per year. The same applies for private vs. public universities. There is no additional discount for non-profits from the pricing offered as it is already at a reduced rate in consideration of the organizational budget.

Speaking Engagements

This type of service varies in cost depending on the event type (conference educational facilitation/training, panel or keynote) and may range in cost from $5,000-$15,000 (or more) depending on the specific request.

Organizational climate much like this iceberg has an ecosystem above the surface, which can be seen and one below the surface which cannot be seen without changing vantage points.

Organizational Climate Change

Many organizations ask for a 1-time facilitation/training when the organizational health is already showing signs of damage/harm. 1-time training can provide a baseline vocabulary, establish community agreements and create a shared cultural understanding around communication across difference. However, it will not and cannot create sustainable and actionable change. Organizations may also be in need of leadership development, mediation, small group/team training and or strategic planning for training to be effective. Organizations are assessed for anti-oppression and specifically anti-racist literacy. It is recommended that organizations take care to not engage in surface level work that may be received as performative and add to employee discontent.

If you are ready to create sustainable change in your organization you must be ready to financially invest in a long-term commitment and view this work as a part of the work of your organization. As Millennials and Gen Z become a larger percentage of the workforce the ability for older generations to sustain the status quo will dissipate. These generations are already preferring options to work for themselves, to change careers entirely and to live small rather than be unhappy at work. The reverberations of the Great Resignation continue. Retention and recruitment require a budget that includes organizational health and wellness. Organizations seeking to make change with depth and results will be assessed for a customized plan specific to their needs.

If you experience illness you’re encouraged to take care of yourself. To have your favorite sick day comfort foods, stay hydrated and to rest for your own wellbeing. Depicted above is a soup resting on a linen table cloth with flowers and almonds resting nearby.

Public Health & Safety

  • Transform Belonging follows public health guidelines for in-person service delivery (COVID-19 and other flu vaccinations, boosters, testing and/or masking)

  • Please be ready to be flexible and move services to online, or choose a new service delivery date if needed!

  • If you are located outside of the Bay Area please be open to online service delivery in case of illness (either from the inception of planning, or as a back up plan)

  • If Transform Belonging experiences illness or a need to quarantine every reasonable effort will be made to find an alternative date for service delivery; COVID surges and the potential for illness (requires quarantine) may impact service delivery and masking requirements

“Most of us did not learn when we were young that our capacity to be self-loving would be shaped by the work we do and whether the work enhances our well-being … bringing love into the work environment can create the necessary transformation that be make any job we do … a place where workers can express the best of themselves; when we work with new love we renew the spirit; that renewal is an act of self-love, it nurtures our growth.” - Bell Hooks All About Love
